Apr 16, Batticaloa: Chairman of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Bashir Segudawood yesterday expressed his party' concerns over the upcoming provincial election in the Eastern Province, saying that the election is not the will of the people.
Having lost the recent local polls in the Batticaloa district to TMVP, an anti Tamil Tiger political party representing Tamil people, the SLMC during parity’s election rally held in Batticaloa made this claim that people in the East do not wish to have democracy after being freed from decades of Tamil Tiger tyranny.
According to Mr. Segudawood, the government has set Tamils against Muslims by conducting this election. He urged his party members that they should not fall prey to such traps set by the government.
