* Accidents increase as Sri Lanka celebrates New Year

Apr 14, Colombo: National Hospital in Colombo reports a sharp increase in accidents following the New Year day celebration.

According to the hospital sources, 228 persons have reported to the accident ward yesterday out of which 85 are presently being treated at the hospital. After the midnight another 30 have reported to the accident ward for treatments, the sources added.

Hospital sources said, most of the accidents were caused by road mishaps, domestic accidents and fights. However, there is a sharp decrease in accident caused by fireworks, sources added.
