* LTTE artillery attacks on Sri Lanka government hospital in Mannar

Apr 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka's separatist Tamil Tiger rebels launched a heavy artillery attack on Murunkan government hospital in the embattled Mannar district this morning, the military said.

A hospital building was partially damaged during the indiscriminate shell attack, the Defense Ministry reported. Details of damages caused to civilian and properties are not known yet.

According to the defense sources tension prevails in the area as the attack had created panic and trauma among the patients. Security forces have evacuated the patients and civilians to safer areas.
