Sept 29, Colombo: Former Treasurer of the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party and Convener of the SLFP (Mahajana) Wing, Mangala Samaraweera appeared before a SLFP disciplinary committee yesterday at the SLFP Headquarters at Darley Road.
Sanctioning a request by Samaraweera, the disciplinary Panel fixed 2.30 pm on October 17th for the submission of any objections in writing.
However Samaraweera protested to the SLFP General Secretary who was being represented by a lawyer at the hearing.
“I came to know of President’s Counsel D.P. Mendis representing the SLFP General Secretary at the hearing, only when he appeared before the inquiry,” the former minister told media.
“Although this disciplinary committee is acting contrary to the SLFP Constitution, I appeared before it as a SLFP supporter who respects the party constitution,” he added.
