* Sri Lanka military overruns Sea Tiger base in Silawathurai

Sept 02, Colombo: Sri Lankan military following the capture of strategically important Silawathurai yesterday overran a Sea Tiger base in the same area this morning, as part of their fresh offensive to capture the Tiger controlled area in south of Mannar.

Military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe said that “the Army successfully captured a LTTE Sea Tiger Base including three boats and a large quantity of anti- personnel mines and detonators in the Silawathurai area.”

He also said that civilians arriving into the gvernment controlled areas are being provided accommodation in the IDP Camps in Don Bosco Church, Murunkan and Nanattan School. The government has organized all facilities to the IDPs.

“Arrangements are being made to provide security as soon as possible for the IDPs to return to their homes,” the spokesman said.
