Sept 10, Colombo: Karuna Group, the paramilitary outfit equipped with a political party has issued a communiqué in the Eastern Province banning political activities of other democratic Tamil political parties.

The Karuna Group has allegedly issued a warning to public that the support to Tamil democratic political parties other than their party, Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP), would lead to paying compensation with life, reports from Eastern Province said.

The Karuna Group reportedly distributed handbills containing the warning last week while the leaders of Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) and the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Ealam (PLOTE) were in Batticaloa to discuss compiling nominations for the upcoming local administration polls.

It has been reported that the Karuna Group has also launched a poster campaign in the Eastern Province warning the public against supporting other Tamil democratic political parties.
