Sri Lanka::
* Sri Lanka to impose import taxes on raw and processed palm products
Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:47 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Plantation Industries has decided to introduce import taxes on both processed and raw palm products.

The Ministry came to this decision to avoid the influx of raw palm such as palm nuts ever since the government imposed taxes on palm oil to save the country’s coconut oil industry.

The Cabinet paper in this regard will be sent to the Cabinet of Ministers soon, said Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne.
