* Sri Lanka Marxists interested in taming elephants

Oct 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist People’s Liberation Front (JVP) MP Vijitha Herath is to table a draft act soon in the parliament to register the Tamed Elephant Owners' Association as a corporate institute.

The Association expects to provide medical and other services to tamed elephants in the country.

Sri Lanka has a population of 3,000 elephants and 137 of them are tamed elephants.
