Oct 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Health and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva said that out of the 9,000 some pharmacies functioning in Sri Lanka only a mere 2,000 are registered. He further stated that the majority of these pharmacies lack the service of a qualified pharmacist.
The Ministry has therefore decided to provide training to the pharmacists in the private sector and 200 persons were recruited for the training recently.
The Ministry has decided to initiate legal action against the unregistered pharmacies and the pharmacies that do not employ qualified pharmacists in future.
