Nov 23, Kampala: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of State summit that was held today in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni welcomed the President and the First Lady to the summit.

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II delivered the opening address. The leaders of the 53-nation organization are meeting to discuss a wide variety of issues including democracy, good governance and global trade.
