May 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau figures show 43,064 Sri Lankan migrant workers have left for foreign employment in the first quarter of 2007.

The majority of them left for Middle East countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE and Doha Qatar.

Furthermore the remittance from the foreign employments in the first quarter of this year was Rs 7,352 million. It is an increase of 19% compared to the previous year, says the Foreign Employment Bureau.
