May 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Trade, Minister of Trade, Marketing Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Bandula Gunawardena said that the controlled prices of 10 essential food items for the month of June would be announced on 1st of June.

The Ministry signed an agreement with the Association of the Importers of Essential Food Commodities to control the prices of these food items. However, the Ministry sources said that the prices could be slightly increased compared to the prices of the previous month.

This is the third time the government signed such an agreement with the importers to provide them tax concessions to keep the prices of essential food items low.
