May 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka's World Cup cricket team is stranded in London after Emirates Air suspended all flights to Colombo following the LTTE air raid last Sunday morning.
“The team is currently in London and we are trying to secure seats with an alternative airline,” said Sri Lanka Cricket media spokesperson Samantha Algama.
He said the 15-man squad and management team would be back in Sri Lanka early on Thursday as planned, in time for official welcome celebrations.
“The parade and reception at Independence Square will go ahead as planned. We hope to be in a position to confirm arrangements by Tuesday evening,” Algama said.
Sri Lanka lost the World Cup final by 53 runs to Australia at Barbados last Saturday.
