“The JVP is still prepared to give strength to the government to follow the right path.”

Mar 31, Colombo: The Janatha Vimukthi Peremuna (JVP) said that Opposition UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe’s plan to build a joint opposition together with the JVP will never be a reality.

General Secretary of the JVP, Tilvin Silva, said, “The JVP does not want to join hands with the UNP that destroyed the country.”

The General Secretary however said that it will give support to the government. “The JVP is still prepared to give strength to the government to follow the right path,” he said.

He also said, “The UNP is moribund inactive today and its revival from its present state is only a dream.” However he said the JVP will allow the UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and others to join the JVP after disbanding the UNP.
