June 06, Colombo: Japanese peace envoy, Yasushi Akashi called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees this evening.

Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hussein Bhaila, President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona are also in the picture. Akashi is on a five-day visit to the country to meet with the Sri Lankan leaders in an effort to restore the fading peace process.
