June 27, Colombo: President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Somawathiya Stupa this morning and inaugurated a new Rs. 2.5 million electricity project at Somawathiya.

Somawathiya Viharadhipathi Ven. Pahamune Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thero, Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Deputy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Deputy Minister C.A. Sooriyaarachchi, Deputy Minister Siripala Gamlath, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and Maj. Gen. Parakrama Pannipitya were also present.
