The suspect has also revealed the connections he had with an anti-Tiger Tamil armed group, Police sources said. A number of businesspersons have paid ransoms in millions of rupees to this gang and the suspect has divulged their names.

Special Police team has been deployed to apprehend the rest of the members of this gang. Some of them are deserters of the security forces.

Opposition United National Party (UNP) MP first revealed about this suspect in the parliament and connected some other politicians and armed forces personnel to him. The speech made a controversy and led to a no-confidence motion against the MP.
