Saturday, January 27, 2007, 13:32 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Transport has decided to make ticket issuing compulsory for private buses throughout the country starting on February 1.

The Ministry has taken this decision after studying the success of the pilot project that began January 1 in the Western Province.

The Western Province Passenger Transport Authority monitored the ticketing process of private buses this past month and fined both conductors and passengers for not having tickets for their travel.
