Jan 19, Colombo: The newly opened Sri Lanka's first Children's heart surgery unit will commence operations on 25th January, says the Chief Surgeon Dr. Iresh Vijemanna.

The unit established in the Colombo Lady Ridgeway Hospital will conduct four operations per day. Non complex surgeries such as hole in the heart will be conducted in the initial stage.

A special fund named as 'Save a heart; save a child' has been set up attached to the heart surgery unit of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.
