Jan 11, Colombo: A meeting between Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Leader of the Opposition and United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled for this week.
According to UNP sources, Mr. Wickremesinghe will raise the controversial matter of some UNP parliamentarians joining the government without the consent of the party leadership.
The two leaders will discuss the future of the MOU signed by the UNP and the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) a few months ago, as well as the current situation in the country’s North East.
