* Sri Lanka's tourist industry suffers from drop in European travelers
Sunday, February 4, 2007, 15:08 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka tourist industry sources say that tourist arrivals from European countries have fallen by 80% this season.

Industry operators say that wide publicity given to the attack on Galle harbour last year adversely affected the country's tourist industry. The Travel Advisory Board of the European Union advised against non-essential travel to central, southern and western Sri Lanka and all travel to the North and East.

Arrivals of French and Dutch tourists also declined 40% and German and British tourists declined around 25% last year when compared to 2005.
