Feb 26, Colombo: A special discussion with the participation of top level politicians and officials has been arranged on 12th March at Weerawila to discuss the problems that are to arise with the construction of another international airport.
Weerawila in Southern Sri Lanka is the site for the construction of Sri Lanka's second international airport.
The main issue to be discussed at the meeting is the problems of the people who will be displaced from their residential and farming lands due to the development work. They are to be provided with alternative land and compensations.
Acting Minister of Ports and Aviation Sarath Kumara Gunaratna and the Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Chamal Rajapaksa will conduct the meeting under the guidance of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
