* Brawl with Sri Lanka Freedom Party's ousted Ministers drags on
Sunday, February 25, 2007, 15:55 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 25, Colombo: The conflict between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) leadership and ousted Ministers Sripathi Suriyaarachchi and Mangala Samaraweera continues as efforts by SLFP senior Minister D.M. Jayaratne have reportedly failed to bring about reconciliation.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly rejected meeting the Ministers under conditions. The former Ministers have put forward 10 conditions under the name of proposals.

Meanwhile, some media have reported a potential new alliance between the two ousted Ministers and former President Chandrika Kumaratunga. Media have also speculated that the Marxist People's Liberation Front (JVP) is likely to join them. However, the JVP earlier denied such predictions.

SLFP General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena charged yesterday that there was a plot to oust the government through parliamentary measures. Allegations have been leveled directly and indirectly at the former Ministers for campaigning against the government at various international levels.
