Dec 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa welcomed Test Cricket world record holder Muttiah Muralitharan and his parents to Temple Trees this evening.

The President presented the cricket hero with a new car donated by Sri Lanka Cricket. Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, Parliamentary Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara, and Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge also took part in the event, as did members of England's cricket team.

The President also presented Sanath Jayasooriya, Kumar Sangakkara and Chaminda Vas with mementos to recognize their long-time contributions to the national sport.
