Dec 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka Air Force bombed a LTTE training camp in Mullaitivu this morning while ten Tigers were killed in confrontations with the troops yesterday, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said.
The fighter jets launched from Katunayake air base accurately bombed the LTTE training base at Muthiyankaddu, northwest of Oddusudan. The base conducts both recruit and refresher training for the LTTE cadres, the sources added.
Meanwhile, nine Tigers were killed in confrontations with the Tigers in Vavuniya and Mannar on Sunday.
Troops killed four Tigers during a clash with a group of Tigers in the area north of Pokkaravanni, Vavuniya yesterday afternoon. A soldier also died in the confrontation. Hours later four more Tigers were killed during an attack at Umayaratuvarankulam, the military said.
Troops attacked a group of LTTE cadres attempting to breach the front lines at Killalai in Jaffna Sunday (30) afternoon killing a Tiger cadre, defense reports said.
