* Tamil Tigers' attempt to regain lost ground foiled, 41 killed says Sri Lanka military

Dec 03, Mannar: At least 41 fighters, including 35 LTTE cadres were killed in confrontations in Adampan area, Mannar this morning, Sri Lanka military claimed.

Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said that the LTTE had launched heavy retaliatory attacks at the army using heavy weapons. The military quoting Tamil Tiger radio transmission said that 35 Tamil Tiger members were killed and 25 others were injured when troops foiled two abortive attempts of Tamil Tigers to regain the ground that they lost to military in the Manthai area yesterday.

Also, six soldiers were killed and 20 sustained injuries in the incidents, the spokesman said.

According to the military sources, Tiger attacks which commenced last evening have continued to this morning.
