Aug 03, Colombo: A judge ordered today to further remand a Dutch couple who was arrested last month for trying to smuggle an infant out of the country.

Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena on Friday ordered the couple to be remanded for another two weeks until August 16 to allow more time for the officials to investigate.

The couple was arrested on July 26th at Beruwala with a fake birth certificate of the two-week old baby trying to adopt the infant illegally. They are not formally charged yet. Court officials said the couple is to be questioned by the police later in the day.
