Aug 31, Colombo: Almost all major political parties of Sri Lanka are in the process of commencing party owned propaganda newspapers.

Ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will soon re-commence the party official newspaper ‘Dinakara’.

Opposition United National Party (UNP) and the SLFP – People’s Wing recently decided to reorganize a newspaper company by linking Leader Publications and the Standard Newspapers. Accordingly, the company will reschedule the publications. Now defunct Mawbima will be recommenced as a daily newspaper and Morning Leader will be the sister English newspaper of it. Irudina and Sunday Leader will be its Sunday newspapers.

Meanwhile the People’s Liberation Front (JVP) has also decided to re-launch its propaganda newspaper ‘Lanka’ that was shut down due to heavy losses.
