Aug 25, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Highways and Road Development Jeyaraj Fernandopulle said that steps would be taken to import 222 iron bridges from UK to improve the roads in the rural areas.

The Minister also said that the UK government is assisting to obtain Rs. 13 billion needed for the purchase.

The Minister says that the government will spend Rs. 27 billion this year for road development.
