Aug 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today met the local farmers and food producers at the Temple Trees and held discussion on ways to uplift their lives and products.

Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Chamal Rajapaksa and President's secretary Lalith Weeratunga, head of the Sri Lankan Army, Navy, Air Force, Police with Def. secretary Gotabaya Rajepaksa also participated.

President also redeemed a cow and a calf under the project Liberation of Cows to be Slaughtered. Minister of Livestock Development C.B Ratnayake handed over the animals to the President at the Temple Trees today.
