Aug 20, Colombo: Former Sri Lanka cricket captain and parliamentarian Arjuna Ranatunga has submitted his resignation from the post of electoral organizer of Kotte.

Ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) sources said that a political clash with the Chairman of the Sri Jayawardhanapura Municipal Council Swarnalatha de Silva has resulted in the cricket hero’s resignation. He has mentioned that he was not satisfied with the way the work is done in the electorate.

Kotte is a crucial electorate in Sri Lanka since it includes the area where the Sri Lanka parliament is located.
