* Sri Lanka Medical Officers' Association urges the government to attend to the dearth of psychiatrists immediately

Aug 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) says that the Ministry of Health has still not taken steps to solve the dearth of psychiatrists in the country.

The GMOA says that the country has only 19 psychiatrists for the population of around 20 million.

The doctors’ association urges the government to utilize the funds granted by the WHO to promote mental health to produce at least 25 psychiatrists a year.
