* Tamil Nadu to consult Centre Govt before taking action against Tigers
Monday, April 30, 2007, 14:44 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 30, Colombo: The Tamil Nadu Government has decided to consult the Centre Government before deciding on initiating action against outfits and political leaders supporting the LTTE.

Expressing shock at the complicity of the LTTE in the abduction and killing of fishermen from the Kanyakumari district last month, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi informed the Assembly that the Government would take immediate steps to secure the release of 12 fishermen reportedly detained by the Sea Tigers.

Responding to Congress member C. Gnanasekaran's demand for the arrest of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko and for a ban on organisations supporting the LTTE, Mr. Karunanidhi said he would seek the opinion of the Centre on these issues.
