Sept 26, Colombo: His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed Mr. Gamini Gunaratna as the Advisor to the President on External Relations on September 20, 2006, while in New York City to attend the 61st Sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.
Mr. Gunaratna will lead efforts to identify and expedite viable development projects under the “Mahinda Chinthana”. He will coordinate these projects through the Presidential Secretariat and Government Ministries, in particular the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Planning. This work falls under the supervision of Presidential Secretary Mr. Lalith Weeratunga.
