* Indian Foreign Secretary meets Sri Lanka President

Nov 23, Colombo: Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon met Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees in Colombo today.

The two leaders discussed a range of issues relating to bilateral cooperation between their countries. The visiting Foreign Secretary also met the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Acting Foreign Secretary during his visit to the island.

Among the issues discussed were current developments relating to the Sri Lankan peace process, the status of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between India and Sri Lanka, the proposed Indian investment in a coal power plant in Trincomalee, and prospects for cooperation in the health and cultural spheres.

Dr. Palitha Kohona, the Secretary General of the Sri Lankan Government's Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process, is also pictured.
