Sunday, December 31, 2006, 15:06 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
The Chairman of the Expert Panel, Dharmasiri Peiris, has tendered his resignation.

Dec 31, Colombo: The Expert Panel appointed to advise the All Party Representative Committee (APRC) of Sri Lanka on a framework for power devolution has sought clarification from the APRC about its role.

The panel has ceased to function until it receives the APRC's response, sources close to the Expert Panel said.

The last meeting of the Expert Panel, held last Thursday, concluded amidst confusion without a decision on when to meet again.

The Chairman of the Expert Panel, Dharmasiri Peiris, tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons.

The panel has been the centre of controversy after eleven of its 17 members endorsed a set of proposals for wide-ranging devolution of power, but this was opposed by the rest. For of the minority opinion put forward a different set of proposals, while two others had a different view from both these groups. City Bank Card, Chase low rate loan, American Express
