* Sri Lanka President visits Trincomalee Navy Camp

Dec 27, Colombo: President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning made a surprise visit to Trincomalee Naval Dockyard to witness his own son, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who joined the Navy a few weeks ago, being trained.

The President was accorded a warm welcome with a guard of honour on his arrival at the camp. It was a significant event to witness the President onboard a Dvora, inspecting the surroundings of the harbour.

In the course of the tour, the President also visited the MTU Workshop where vessels are being repaired, focusing his attention on improvements needed at the facility. While enjoying tea with trainees, the President had the occasion of witnessing his son Yoshitha being trained.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and Navy Eastern Commander Rear Admiral Sunil Samaratunga were present for the President's visit.
