Dec 22, Colombo: In a special discussion with parliamentarians from the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) at Temple Trees yesterday evening, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa assured that he will consider the North East problem with an "innovative spirit" and dedicate himself to searching for a new path to a solution, leaving no room for a repetition of the crisis.
The TNA parliamentarians made representations at length on the recent developments in Jaffna. The President meanwhile summoned the chiefs of the Armed Forces and instructed them to take immediate steps on issues that emerged at the discussion.
Expressing his views, Mr. Rajapaksa said he has left no room for any manner of violence and his earnest goal is fostering peace. On this score, he is ever prepared to talk to the LTTE, he said. The President urged the members of the TNA to cooperate with him towards this end.
