* Asian Development Bank grants US$ 60 million to Sri Lanka to improve rural community water supply standards

Dec 19, Colombo: The Government of Sri Lanka and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have entered into a loan agreement for US$ 60 million that grants provision for drinking water and sanitation facilities in the North Central, Northeastern and Southern Provinces.

The proceeds of the supplementary loan are intended for water supply and sanitation in secondary towns and rural communities, specifically for providing drinking water and sanitation facilities for people in Batticaloa, Muttur, Polonnaruwa and Hambantota as well as other selected areas in the North Central and Northeastern Provinces.

This project will be carried out by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and will be completed by 2010. City Bank Card, Chase low rate loan, American Express
